Hi everyone,
So i had gathered all the parts to make the mic for a while now after seeing the video when it released. And when i got them all i read on the forum that there were troubles making it works and that mark 2 version of it was potentially coming.
I saw some boards floating around, but between all the boards and versions that I saw, is there a place up to date with the latest release and a tutorial to make it or a diagram and list of components that is confirmed to work ^^'
If possible using a maximum of the initials parts since as far as i remember i got everything in a box accumulating dust ^^'
Thank you everyone !
The current version which does work BUT is a Beta (for reasons I won't worry you with) works best with lower voltage JFETs but quality and reliability are considerably improved. You should find the KiCAD 9 files under the Michelle 3.5 - a later version is planned but I need feedback (no pun) from the beta testers so I can knock any other edges of.
HOWEVER it already meets and usually exceeds the performance of the predecessor and it has digital taps, sterero capability too.
Take everything I say with a pinch of salt, I might be wrong and it's a very *expensive* way to learn!
@marcdraco well cool thanks, but do you have a link then ^^' ? Because using the search function only return you talking about it, but not sharing any instructions or links to make it ^^' Mostly stuff about a varee board ? or Cerberus ?
If you start at the very end (page 40 some) and go BACK you'll find it. I don't have my servers online (house move) so things are a bit chaotic at the moment.
@wecan - I hope I spelled that right - is about to do some beta testing and when this came up in the forum I think I gave him a full set of drawings, BOM and some instructions. You still need your wits about you but it's nowhere near as hit and miss as Veroboard. It does cost more but the final result is really stunning.
I could be Q4 before I get to do any more serious work on it so that's frozen but working with all the expected features (Beta) although there is plenty of room for expansion as I've noted.

@marcdraco Thank you, guess i'll wait or try and follow the original tutorial then, like i said i already gathered everything months ago, and my financial situation doesn't allow for beta testing, or anything really fancy for something like that ^^' thanks again.
Don't throw money at this until you've studied everything. I'm usually here at least once a day and while I'm on hiatus, I'll answer questions as best I can about where we are. It's a good place but until we have enough betas done, I can't say, yeah throw £60 quid at two boards which is roughly what it will cost. It's a lot to expect from someone you only know from a forum if you see my point.
Michelle is a very complex project compared to the original. It has a dual inputs, very high quality INAs (like the THAT) 24 bit digitiser, digital throughput, ultra-low noise power regulation. All on a single board.
It really is the spiritual successor to Matt's original but I need to design a better "interface" between Michelle and Matt's original head because, although it does work, it's far from ideal
