Hello there, just looking at your LED videos, I would definitely love to learn more about LED's and to set them up, my knowledge of electronics is basic/beginner, is there any help, thanks!

Good to hear! I've actually got one in the works that's going to focus entirely on LED projects. Anything you'd like to see?

@diyperks, Focused more on drivers, maybe. I also have a few LED light fixtures that stopped working and would love to salvage parts and see can i get them working again or use strips of LED's in them..

A while ago I had this idea of making table lamp using wood, copper tube and LEDs, 45 of them to be precise. I never realised that there were circuits involved and upon research, it turns out its just a bunch of resistors which add up to a calculated value. Anyway, I managed to finish my project, and looking at it now, it's kinda in the style Matt's projects. I was really pleased with my creative efforts although nowhere nears Matt's who is on God level.

PS just trying to upload a photo but not sure whether it has attached or not

I thought about hiding diffused LEDs behind the cover of my speakers to make it seem like they were glowing. However, I don’t want to attach sensors to each one of my speakers and have been looking for LEDs with integrated sensors. Can anyone give me a recommendation?

what do you mean by sensors? I suppose you want them to blink to the music? Just grab some premade driver and LEDs and wire them. As far as I know, there is no integrated package with a mic and LED that will be small enough to use in a project

@tim Nah, I meant integrated IR sensors, to avoid a bulky module in the back of the speaker. I thought I had seen this before, but after some research on the Internet, I don’t think, that there are such LEDs. I guess I will stick to the not quite as elegant solution.

@tr47 So you mean you would want remote control over IR? you can poke a tiny hole in the case to expose the receiver sensor. I have used many small RGB controllers that work at 12v and power 5 meters of strips really well

@tim Seems like a reasonable solution, but I was looking for LEDs, that have IR sensors integrated insinde the strips, however, I don't think, that there are such ones. My speakers are attached to an amplifier somewhat similar to the one Matt used in his loud amplifier video, so I guess, I could also attach an IR sensor to the amplifier to make it look a little cleaner.

Hello all, I set out to create my own version of the sun blaster flash light with a 100w LED, but I really wanted to have a tight collimated beam which I don't think I can with such a big light emitting surface.

So I'm thinking now to build a torch with multiple smaller xhp50 LEDs with 5mm square emitters.  However I'm not sure how to power them. I want to have a grid of them.  Do they all need an individual driver? and should I be carefully with which batteries I use so they can sustain the current discharge?
