Imagine walking on the streets, wearing lenses that:
- Capture the real world as it is
- Processes the incoming light using computational imaging
- Applies filters(contrast, exposure, tint, saturation, etc) and effects (blossom, vintage, B&W, cool, c360fresh, etc) at your command (by voice or buttons on the frame)
- Let you see LIVE the changes as they are being made
- Doesn't augment objects, just the incoming light waves (objects might appear different from reality—only in relation to the lighting)
I have only recently been exploring an idea inspired by some AI-enhanced commercial advertisements: a wearable optical system (as light as sunglasses, not as heavy as gaming headsets) that allows a human user to perceive the visible-light world through dynamic, real-time visual editing. Since the human eye cannot be directly manipulated to adjust filters and effects, the system would operate similarly to digital photo editing tools, but applied to real-time perception.
No brand currently offers lenses that apply filters and effects to live moving images, regardless of whether the record function is running. But Snap Spectacles, Ray-Ban Meta and Xreal Air are the closest steps toward this concept.
