Because of the DIY Perks videos about LEDs, I’ve always wanted to build an LED light myself. However, existing designs didn’t meet my requirements, as they don’t allow mounting standard light modifiers like a soft box. That's why I decided to design my own enclosure. It's all (except for the bowens mount) 3D printed out of ASA on my Bambu Lab P1S.
Specs:
- LED: 97 CRI, 100W, 28mm COB LED, 5600K
- Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
- Power supply: 24V, 9A
- DC-DC boost converter: 250W, 10A
- Fan speed: temperature control (thermistor mounted close to the COB)
- Dimmable: yes
- Light modifier mount: 100mm Bowens
The light is not finished yet, still need to do wiring and paint the reflector in chrome.
That's really super work!
Take everything I say with a pinch of salt, I might be wrong and it's a very *expensive* way to learn!
One thing I'd consider is adding a diffuser or experimenting with the distance between the LEDs and the diffuser if you haven't already. It can make the light look even softer and help reduce hotspots, especially for close-up shots.
