I am interested in using this filler to make some non-resonant speaker baffles.  In the video Matt does not say what the appropriate ratio of PoP:PVA is.  Can anyone advise?

The mix ratio is usually stated on the PVA depending on the manufacturer and use-case if you get the builder's types. Art supply PVA is the same stuff but probably more expensive and it'll lack those instructions.

A quick google didn't really tell me much but when I've used it for fixing holes in walls where adhesion and strength were necessary (plain gypsum dries in to a crystal form which is powdery and soft) I typically dilute the required amount of water with about 50% builder's PVA. You can use 100% strength PVA (which is essentially a plastic that dissolves in water) or use the thinner stuff. You don't need a massive amount to turn dry plaster from that crumbly mush into something as tough as a brick. 🙂

You don't need to water down the PVA but it's a lot easier to mix with the plaster powder if it's full strength.

Take everything I say with a pinch of salt, I might be wrong and it's a very *expensive* way to learn!
