DIY perks "Building a DIY submarine" video time: 10:20-11:40.

How does he run  so many separate pumps with only 4 electric motor speed controllers and how to wire the pumps with the esc's and the receiver? I mean it looks like he is running up to 4 pumps on a single esc.

I'll admit this isn't really my area of electronics so I can only offer an opinion based on what I've see in the video.

I think he's paralleling the "steering" pumps in opposing directions - so two pumps in horizontal opposition at each end. That's two channels and full steering control.

Same for ballast and a final channel for the speed control.

That's only a guess though as I'm not up to speed with the ESCs. Having said that modern ESCs are all power MosFET based and can drive a fair bit of current, probably more than those little pumps require.

I actually thought about this one the other day and wondered if Matt had considered using an Archimedes screw driven by super-magnets (as a clutch and to isolate the drive motor from the water). That's the way I would have done that - but it would likely require a 3D print for the screw part unless @diyperks can source something suitable.

If there's one thing I admire about Matt, it's his ability to source unusual components and repurpose them. Brilliant.

Take everything I say with a pinch of salt, I might be wrong and it's a very *expensive* way to learn!
