Has anyone tried using wood filament to make something, or where can I find related information? Any recommendations?

I’m not sure if furniture made with wood filament is safe for children. I’m thinking of 3D printing a stool for my child.

I would say that it isn't Lily (although your idea to make a stool for a little one is wonderful).

Wood filament is made a bit like MDF - tiny particles of wood. Probably cheaply grown pine or similar coniferous trees but the glue is nothing more than an a thermoplastic.

The principal use of wood filament is to make small items for decorative purposes. When the print is "sanded" with very fine grade paper and then finished with a polish (usually a water soluble clear plastic) the print takes on the appearance of wood, without the grain, naturally. You can simulate grain using two heads and a lot of faffing around though...

It's also a massive PITA to print with because the particles can get stuck in the feeder. If you can get away with the stuff, it can make some really nice looking ornaments, jewellery and so on.

Take everything I say with a pinch of salt, I might be wrong and it's a very *expensive* way to learn!
