Potential Project - Handheld PC

Hey everyone!

So the channel has heavily inspired me and I want to challenge myself with some projects. The one thing I want to do is make something akin to a steam deck, either using a raspberry pi or most likely a latte panda to play some retro games and perhaps even some cloud streaming. I do have 3-4 old disused laptops around that could also be used as the internals.

I'd plan to have joysticks integrated via the arduino, this guy seems to have done what I'm attempting:

However I'm not crazy on his shell idea and also I don't have a 3D printer!

Has anyone tried something like this? Am I crazy to even attempt it?!
