Hi,

I was wondering if anybody tried to make a Robot cart that goes around your home that is voice controlled.

I think the IKEA cart could be used and if we can make Ardiuno do its magic, you could have a really useful robot.

I could see that being useful for someone who has limited mobility, provided someone was there to "load" the cart first of course.

Best of my knowledge this hasn't been done but it's quite a complex task as the robot would need an array of sensors so it doesn't run into things, run over the cat or chase the dog around the room. I jest of course, but this isn't a world of difference away from "FSD" and that's taken teams of highly trained engineers years and we're still waiting. Sure Boston Dynamics have made some incredible progress but that's at the sort of expense only serious investors are able to supply.

Fairly decent little autonomous robots are available in the form of robot vacuum cleaners and the price has fallen dramatically in the last few years so it might be possible to use a design similar to one of those or even upgrading the battery/motors on an existing one with something beefy enough to drag the mass of a loaded cart around.

Not impossible, just very difficult.

Take everything I say with a pinch of salt, I might be wrong and it's a very *expensive* way to learn!
